Kathrin Göbel holds a doctorate in physics and spent 10 years conducting research in experimental astrophysics. She has carried out nuclear physics experiments at national and international accelerator facilities to improve our understanding of how elements are formed in the universe.

Since 2023, Kathrin Göbel has been working as a Technology Liaison Officer at the GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research GmbH in the OpenTransfer project, which develops and tests methods for the transfer of knowledge and technologies in the context of open science.
