Beamtime at GSI

News on Beamtime in 2026/27

Beamtime in 2026/27 cannot run as planned, due to the fire which impairs UNILAC operation severely.

The laser PHELIX, CRYRING_standalone and possibly HITRAP (w/o beam from ESR) are operational and can be employed for user operation. Accordingly, we will adapt and possibly extend the user program for 2026 at those 3 facilities.

Technical concepts for partial use of UNILAC and alternative injectors are being developed and evaluated at the moment, but this will still take some time: So in 2026 we actually expect no beamtime at the UNILAC-dependent facilities UNILAC, SIS18, FRS, ESR.

For discussions on next beamtimes, experiment requirements and what can be offered, representatives of the different fields are invited to contact us!

Overview on Active Proposals and Remaining Shifts

Experiments with granted beamtime (i.e. ranked A) are listed in this table. It contains experiments in the status after granting and before completion/expiry, and gives number of granted shifts.

Experiments in the reserve list have been ranked A- due to large overdraft of beamtime. They might be scheduled if beamtime becomes available.

Data are updated before and after a beamtime block.
