The Building Services Department (GVT) is responsible for the proper and safe operation of all building services systems on the GSI campus, as well as for their maintenance and repair.

The respective groups within the Building Services Department are responsible for organizing and coordinating plant operations, maintenance activities, and project execution. This also includes providing professional support and coordinating with sub-contractors.

The timely procurement of services, materials, and spare parts is an essential prerequisite for safe plant operation as well as for scheduled maintenance and repairs. Equally important is proactive personnel and capacity management to ensure smooth operational processes.

Projects such as comprehensive renovations, expansions, or modifications to utility systems require a particularly high level of planning and coordination. These measures are conceived, designed, and implemented by the building services engineering department either independently or in collaboration with external specialist planners. After completion and commissioning, a structured handover to the operations technicians takes place, who are then responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the building services systems.
