GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt operates one of the leading particle accelerators for science. Currently, the new FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) one of the world's largest research projects, will be built in international cooperation. The Hot and Dense QCD matter department is one of the 3 theory departments at GSI with the focus of investigations of strongly-interacting matter under extreme conditions.

Your tasks:
Independent and self-responsible research:
- Functional renormalization group methods for QCD and effective theory approaches at an internationally competitive level
- Independent scientific developments related to exotic phases of QCD matter at high density and their signatures.
Scientific services in the research areas of the group:
- Collaboration with the existing research groups on predictions for HADES and CBM
- Publications and scientific presentations
- Support in supervising bachelor's and master's students and doctoral candidates
- Group-specific organization and academic self-administration.
Your profile:
- A scientific university degree (Master's/Diploma) in Physics or comparable fields
- A doctoral degree in Physics with a research focus on functional methods for QCD
- More than 5 years of research experience after the doctorate in the field of effective theories and functional methods for QCD under extreme conditions
- More than 5 years of research experience after the doctorate with focus on signatures of structures and exotic phases in the QCD phase diagram
- Habilitation-equivalent achievements, demonstrated by relevant publications and presentations at high-profile international conferences
- Fluent English skills, both spoken and written
- Experience in supervising students
- Experience in acquiring third-party funding.
We offer:
The contract is unlimited. The salary is based on the collective agreement for public employees (TVöD).
