Medical Physics

Group leader: Prof. Dr. Christian Graeff

  • The Medical Physics Group investigates particle therapy, with the aim of improving precision and control of both planning and delivery to ultimately improve patient outcome.

  • The group is responsible for GSI‘s Cave M as well as the in-house treatment planning system (TPS) TRiP. Strategies to treat tumour in organs moving during delivery, such as the lungs, have been the main focus for over 15 years. Recent efforts include particle arc therapy, image guidance, and upright therapy.

  • We host the ERC Consolidator Grant PROMISE, which aims to develop novel image guidance strategies in moving targets, and coordinate the EU MSCA Doctoral Network UPLIFT, which aims to establish upright therapy in Europe.
