Campus Master Plan / Project Development

Campus Master Plan

Presentation of the planned development for the next 2-10 years. GSI's current Campus Master Plan (CMP) dates from 2017. It sets out the basic guidelines for the constructional and organizational development of GSI. The CMP was developed in response to the considerable renovation requirements and challenges posed by the future operation of GSI with FAIR.

The CMP serves as a guideline for development and is used in detail as a basis for structural, financial, constructional, functional, and technical decisions. The CMP provides a framework but is not a rigid tool regarding particular details. It is constantly evolving and adapted to the circumstances of GSI, developments with FAIR, and the requirements of research and accelerator operations.

The CMP is continuously updated in an internal version. This forms the basis for the necessary development steps regarding the commissioning of FAIR with GSI by 2028. A fundamental revision of the CMP is planned for 2025/26.

The version linked above (PDF) is currently only available in German.

Project Development

In the context of Project Development, CAM develops solutions for GSI's construction and structural needs. In doing so, it takes into account identified and known requirements as well as legal, structural, and organizational conditions on campus and in campus operations. The information is compiled in planning concepts and project studies, coordinated with users, and, if necessary, submitted to management for decision-making.

Coordinated and approved planning concepts and project studies form the basis for planning and construction services in construction management or building maintenance in accordance with service phase 0 of the HOAI.
