Corona regulations at GSI and FAIR

Status of 09 February 2023

Keep your distance: Keeping a sufficient distance from other people effectively protects against droplet infections, which occur in many respiratory infections.

Observe hygiene: Regardless of the illness, the following applies: Do not go to work sick! Likewise, the proven hygiene rules for proper coughing and sneezing into the crook of the arm must be followed. Regular thorough hand washing additionally protects against the penetration of pathogens into the mucous membranes of the mouth and nose.

Respiratory protection - masks protect against infection: In order to avoid infecting other people when staying indoors or below the minimum distance of 1.50 m, people who show typical cold symptoms such as cough or cold should wear medical face masks or respirators.

Ventilate - regular and thorough: Proper ventilation at regular intervals helps to reduce the transmission of pathogens through aerosols indoors. If ventilation is not provided by a ventilation and air-conditioning system (RLT), regular short bursts of ventilation with wide-open windows is particularly recommended. Shock ventilation is also energy-saving: In winter, just a few minutes of shock ventilation are sufficient for a complete air exchange without cooling down the room.
