GSI/FAIR promotes exchange with the student space community

13.07.2026

As part of the BVSR Conference 2026, GSI/FAIR recently welcomed 200 students from the fields of space science and engineering to its campus in Darmstadt. The Bundesverband studentischer Raumfahrt e. V. (BVSR) represents student groups involved in space projects at the national level. The visit offered exciting insights into current research and underscored the importance GSI/FAIR places on supporting the next generation of scientists.

During guided tours of key research and development areas at GSI/FAIR, participants gained insights into state-of-the-art technologies and scientific infrastructure. The program was complemented by interactive workshops on topics such as CubeSat experiments, beam diagnostics, mission planning, additive manufacturing, and entrepreneurship.

The intensive exchange between students and researchers generated valuable ideas for future scientific and technological developments. These interactions play a key role in inspiring young talent early on to pursue research, innovation, and high-tech careers.

Special thanks go to TU Darmstadt Space Technology e. V. (TUDSaT) as the local organizing partner for the BVSR Conference 2026, as well as to all GSI/FAIR staff members whose dedication made this inspiring day possible. Collaboration with student initiatives is an important part of fostering the next generation of researchers and strengthens the transfer of knowledge between the research community and the next generation.
