Czech in-kind contribution for NUSTAR – GSI/FAIR and Silesian University in Opava sign Construction Memorandum of Understanding
10.11.2025 |
The Czech Republic, Aspirant Partner of FAIR, provides detector modules to be used in FAIR’s Super Fragment Separator (Super-FRS) as part of the NUSTAR experiment pillar. A respective Memorandum of Understanding regarding construction (so-called C-MoU) was recently signed by Professor Thomas Nilsson, Scientific Managing Director of FAIR and GSI, and Jörg Blaurock, Technical Managing Director of FAIR and GSI, during the “NUSTAR Week 2025” collaboration meeting in Prague.
Dr. Martin Urbanec from the Silesian University in Opava received the document for further processing. The Silesian University is involved in the Super-FRS Experiment Collaboration and produces, installs and commissions cesium-iodide scintillator modules for the EXPERT detector system as a FAIR in-kind contribution of the Czech Republic.
NUSTAR C-MoUs are signed by all member institutions of NUSTAR as well as funding agencies which provide the resources to the respective groups for the construction of components. (CP)
