Recently, FAIR/GSI celebrated the Indian National Science Day together with His Excellency Ajit Gupte, the Indian Ambassador to Germany, and a delegation from the Embassy of India. This occasion marked another step forward in strengthening the collaboration between Germany and India in the field of research.
The event began with a short introduction and a tour of the FAIR/GSI construction site with the GSI/FAIR management, Professor Thomas Nilsson, Dr. Katharina Stummeyer and Jörg Blaurock. Afterwards, guests and GSI/FAIR representatives met to discuss current issues and celebrate the importance of the Indian National Science Day.
During his welcome speech, Professor Thomas Nilsson, Scientific Managing Director of GSI and FAIR, stated, “We are proud to highlight India’s key contributions to FAIR. The high-tech power converters, the advanced cryogenic feedback loops, and the next-generation muon detectors, designed and built in India, will play a crucial role for FAIR. This is a powerful testament to India's scientific and engineering excellence.”
Dr. Katharina Stummeyer, Administrative Managing Director, stressed: “Now more than ever, it is vital to celebrate the achievements of science that drive global progress. We are proud to welcome our Indian shareholder to campus today—a strong symbol of our shared commitment to scientific excellence and international collaboration.”
