Focus and aims of the 517. WE-Heraeus-Seminar:
- Expected beam intensity limits in proton and heavy-ion accelerators
- Main challenges (in terms of accelerator physics and technology) for the expansion of existing facilities (such as LHC) and for those in the planning stage (such as FAIR and ESS).
- Current and future applications for high-intensity ion accelerators
- Alternative types of acceleration, such as laser acceleration
- Opportunities and limitations of the computer modeling of intensive ion beams.
The Wilhelm and Else Heraeus Foundation is a private foundation which supports scientific research and education with emphasis on physics. The foundation established in 1963 is the most important private institution funding physics in Germany.
The Physikzentrum Bad Honnef is the main meeting place of the WE-Heraeus-Seminars. Bad Honnef is located near Bonn. Directions to the seminar location are given on the web page of the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef . A map can be found here.

The participation fee, accommodation and alls meals are covered by the WE-Heraeus Foundation.
Poster contributions by the participants will be welcome. The poster should be related to the research project of the participant. There will be a ‘Best Poster Award’ offered.
The deadline for registration is July, 31st 2012.

- Your name
- Your address (University / Institution)
- Your current professional position or academic position. Students specify they current number of semester, too.
- Research field
- Poster contribution (yes/no), Titel of the poster.
Two weeks after the registration deadline we will inform you about your acceptance. While open for everybody, PostDocs, PhD and undergraduate students will be preferred amongst the applicants. The maximum number of participants is 40 (without the speakers).
All participants should submit a short abstract (max. 1 page) of their poster or talk until September, 8th 2012.
