Port security at the GSI network

The network ports (wall sockets) managed by IT are subject to portsecurity. Only computers registered by IT can participate in the GSI network. Contact the IT Helpdesk (ITH) to register your computer.

Unregistered computers can not be authenticated and can not communicate with the GSI network.

Non-GSI registered devices (whether private or other) can only participate in the guest network. They will only have access to the Internet and not to GSI's internal services.

A special permit for the integration of non-GSI devices into the internal network requires a personal reason and an application with IT security.

Use of Switches/Hubs

If you use a switch or hub, connect only computers of the same class (registered or unregistered) to it. Otherwise the unregistered computers will not be connected to any network.
