Windows User profiles

All user-specific changes (e.g. drive and printer connections, configuration settings for programs) are saved in a Windows user profile.

At GSI we usually use roaming profiles, i.e. the profile is located locally on the device as well as on a file server. This allows you to log on to different devices and maintain your familiar environment.

The profile on the device basically contains three directories: Local, LocalLow and Roaming. The roaming part is synchronized with the server-saved profile when logging on and off the device.

Device: C:\Users\username\appdata

Server:
Windows 7 =        Q:\Config.V2
Windows 10 =      Q:\Config.V6
TerminalServer = Q:\ConfigTS.V2

We have prepared a documentation for setting up a profile on a Windows 10 device, which should make configuration easier for you.
