Water that got pumped down is fed into ground water again via adjacent absorbing wells.

Currently 80 new groundwater measuring points are being drilled at FAIR's building site in Darmstadt. They will be used to monitor the groundwater level and the water quality during the construction of the new particle accelerator facility. The groundwater measuring points are an important part of the concept for ground water management. To preserve the environment only a locally limited lowering of groundwater close to the building pit is planned.
