Scientifc Award for Dr. Tetyana Galatyuk
The prize of € 10,000 were awarded since 1969 by the friends and supporters of the University of Frankfurt. It is awarded annually and is separated into three parts. As a first prize € 4,000 were awarded this year twice. First to the physicist Dr. Tetyana Galatyuk (2nd from left) from the FAIR experiment CBM, and second to the computer scientist Dr. Judith Winter. In her dissertation Galatyuk achieved major contributions to the research on nuclear matter by means of virtual photons (Dileptons). Their results form the basis for a better description of photon radiation from dense nuclear matter with a view to discover distinct signatures of new phases of matter under extreme conditions.
