FAIR civil construction

The new FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) international accelerator center that is being built at GSI is one of the largest research projects worldwide. The construction work began in 2017. The construction site is located to the east of the present-day GSI complex, whose existing accelerators will be used as the first acceleration stage in the future.
