Awarding of the prize to Dr. Francesca Luoni by Matthias W. Send, Chairman Board of the Vereinigung von Freunden der Technischen Universität zu Darmstadtb e.V.
Dr. Francesca Luoni from the GSI Department of Biophysics was honored with the “Prize for outstanding scientific achievements” of the association “Freunde der Technische Universität zu Darmstadt e.V.”. She received the award for her PhD thesis on “Radiation Shielding during Deep-Space Missions: Dose Measurements, Monte Carlo Simulations, and Nuclear Cross-Sections”. The award ceremony took place at the spring festival of the TU Friends in the guest house of the TU Darmstadt.

The two days France@FAIR event emphasized international collaboration in research and innovation, with insights shared on the FAIR mega science project and current opportunities. Starting point of the PHELIX laser at GSI/FAIR
The THRILL (Technology for High-Repetition-rate Intense Laser Laboratories) project received more than ten million euro of funding in the framework of the European Union’s HORIZON EUROPE program.
