The division of “Superconducting Magnets & Testing”(SCM) is looking at the earliest possible date for two

We are currently producing and testing superconducting magnet assemblies for the construction of the Super Fragment Separator (Super-FRS), a key machine at the FAIR facility. We are looking for two employees with experience in cryogenics, electrical testing, instrumentation or measurement technology to carry out the tests.
The acceptance tests for the superconducting magnets for the Super-FRS are being conducted at the large-scale research facility CERN near Geneva (Switzerland), which is where the workplace is primarily located.
Your tasks:
- Inspection of test benches
- Incoming inspection of magnets
- Electrical testing of magnets
- Powering / operation / commissioning of superconducting magnets
- Magnetic field measurements
- Handling of control systems
- Data analysis
- Documentation of the tests.
Your profile:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g. specialising in electrical engineering, cryogenics) or similar qualification
- Knowledge and practical experience in some of the following areas
- Superconducting magnets
- Electrical testing
- Control systems, particularly in cryogenic environments
- Data analysis and interpretation of results
- Safety engineering
- Good Computer skills and some programming knowledge
- Very good written and spoken English
- Ability to work in a team and communicate with others
- Willingness to live abroad and work at CERN.
We offer a multifaceted and interesting position within an internationally well-accepted research facility.
The positions are limited for 2 years. Salary is as specified in the collective agreement for public employees (TVöD Bund), effective at GSI.
