GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt operates one of the leading particle accelerators for science. In the next few years, the new FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) one of the world's largest research projects, will be built in international cooperation. Coordinator (all genders) for Research Data Management (FDM)

Your tasks:

  • Development of a concept for research data management and development of processes for its implementation together with the scientific/technical departments and the IT
  • Collaboration in the development of the research data repository
  • Consulting on data models and metadata
  • Monitoring of subject-specific research data repositories
  • Advising scientists on the handling of research data throughout the entire research data cycle
  • Support in the preparation of data management plans in the context of third-party funding applications
  • Conception and implementation of courses on research data management
  • Preparation of guidelines and information materials
  • Active participation in internal and representation of GSI in external working groups on FDM.


Your Skills:

  • A university degree in natural sciences with a doctorate, preferably in one of the GSI/FAIR research areas
  • Experience in handling large-volume research data and the FAIR principles
  • Experience/good knowledge of research data management and common metadata standards or willingness to learn them
  • High affinity for web- and database-based application environments and experience in digitizing processes
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Confident command of the German and English languages, both written and spoken.


We offer an interesting and varied job in an internationally renowned research institution with personal development opportunities. The position is initially limited to 2 years with the prospect of continuation if the candidate proves himself/herself. The salary is based on the collective agreement TVöD (Bund).
