Civil Engineer – special field Construction Logistics (all genders)

The international accelerator center FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research), one of the largest research projects worldwide, is currently being built in Darmstadt. FAIR is under construction at the existing research center GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung. At FAIR, matter that usually only exists in the depth of space will be produced and studied in the laboratory, in order to gain new insights into the evolution of the universe and the structure of matter. Civil Engineer – special field Construction Logistics (all genders)

Your tasks:

  • Ensuring and demanding efficient lean construction management
  • Predictive identification of problems in the construction and logistical handling of all Technical Building Infrastructure (TBI) Contractors and adaption of the logistics concept and logistics manual if necessary
  • Development and updating of plans and concept documents, along with the construction progress and as required (CAD plans)
  • Participation in the implementation of construction logistics concepts with regard to the time schedules
  • Control of the implementation of logistics process by the contractors on site and at the installation locations
  • Define suitable corrective action and initiate these via the building coordinators
  • Flexible control of construction logistics processes in the case of unscheduled events, in the light of the planning perspective
  • Regular, constructive communication between all contractors regarding the implementation of the construction logistics concept and the creation of joint solutions in the sense of the holistic construction logistics concept (inside and outside) 
  • Support in accompanying construction meetings on construction logistical issues according to the construction management’s specifications
  • Evaluation and provision of reporting on material and people flows.



Your profile:

  • Successfully completed bachelor’s degree (engineering science) or completed vocational training with professional experience or comparable qualification with professional experience
  • Experience in lean construction is of advantage
  • IT skills in MS Office are essential
  • A command of Auto CAD skills is of advantage
  • Above-average organizational and communication skills, high perception
  • Social kills and assertiveness
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written German is prerequisite, good knowledge of English is desirable.


A pronounced interest in actively helping to shape construction logistics processes in a construction project for a research company rounds off the profile.



We offer an interesting position in an internationally renowned research institute. The position is initially limited to 5 years. The salary is based on the German civil service employees (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst - TVöD (Bund)).
