Mechatronics Technician or Electronics Technician (f/m/d)

GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt operates one of the leading particle accelerators for science. In the next few years, the new FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) one of the world's largest research projects, will be built in international cooperation. The team “HEBT Instruments” of the Beam Instrumentation Department is looking for a


Mechatronics Technician or Electronics Technician (f/m/d)

to support the team in design, realization and operation of complex electronic systems for measurement and control of beam diagnostic instruments at GSI and FAIR.

Your responsibilities:

  • Manufacture and service of special electronics for beam diagnostics at GSI and FAIR
  • Layout and realization of beam diagnostic components for the HEBT section of FAIR
  • Realization and commissioning of electronic systems for data acquisition and device control (incl. design of electronic circuits)
  • Integration of beam diagnostic components into the accelerator control system and microcontroller programming
  • Installation of electric cabinets, cable assembly and general service and maintenance tasks

Your qualifications:

  • Required education: technician in mechatronics, technician in electronics, or similar subject specific education
  • Sound knowledge of measurement methods and tools
  • Knowledge in the fields of digital circuit design and microcontroller programming
  • Practical experience in component placement and soldering
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written German and English
  • Independent acting combined with team work and communication skills

We offer a permanent position. Salary is equivalent to that for public employees as specified in the collective agreement for public employees (TVöD Bund).
