Metalworking Shop

Head:

Markus Romig(  2507)
M.Romiggsi.de

Responsibilities and duties:

The metal working shop is not only a place of production but also of various other tasks. Apart from general duties (such as building maintenance support or manufacturing of railings and banisters, enclosures and fences, bases and underframes) it focusses on the construction of components for the accelerators and experiment setups. Most of the times, those components are vacuum chambers and related equipment, which have to come up to extreme requirements, e.g. ultra-high vacuum. Production and processing not only comprise foils, thin metal sheets and even heavy steel girders but also stainless austenitic steels, aluminium, aluminium alloys and special materials and substances such as titanium or molybdenum.
