Duties and responsibilities: The machine shop is the heart of internal production for manufacturing, processing, adaptation and subassembly of components for accelerators or experiment setups at GSI. Its duties and responsibilities comprise: Ad hoc repair and adaptation of components for accelerators or experiment setups, particularly difficult, time-consuming and complex productions, that call for expert knowledge, production of prototypes and models for the development of components for accelerators and experiment set-ups. The efficient fulfilment of these different tasks is made possible through modern and multifunctional equipment as well as through close cooperation between the different groups within the department.
