Purchasing IT Equipment

You can order all the IT equipment you need, e.g. computers, notebooks, monitors, printers, external devices or software, via the IT department.
Usually the fee is valid for 3 years. If you want to use the device for another 3 years, you might have to incur a small amount for maintenance.
The IT department will usually have a small amount of devices frequently ordered in stock. In case you need a standard configured computer, you will receive your item in short notice. If you need some advanced configurations, please do not hesitate to contact our User Help Desk.

Procedure

Please complete the order form and forward it to our User Help Desk. For PCs and notebooks you will also need to fill in the IP address form.
For printers and external devices please contact the User Help Desk in advance, because some additional information from you will be needed.

Standard Software

At GSI, Windows XP and Debian Linux are used on PCs at standard software, for notebooks it is Windows XP only.
If you need Linux at your notebook, please ask for SuSE after contacting the User Help Desk, but there will no advanced support provided in this case.

Software Specifications

• SuSe: notebooks (only after consulting the UHD or the Linux Group linuxgroupgsi.de)
  
  

Additional Software

If you want to order additional software via the IT department, please open a Trouble Ticket in the Misc queue, e.g. by sending an E-mail to it-servicegsi.de. In order to process your request we need to know the name of the software, your computer and operating system.
