Linux at GSI

On desktops, file servers and batch farm computers Debian Linux version 5.0 Lenny is currently in use.

The batch farm consists of a large number of computers which are used for scientific computing. LSF handles the job management.

File servers provide the network file systems NFS and Lustre, where the data from your experiments can be stored.

Debian is also used as the operating system for desktops. If you want to use Linux on your notebook, you need to contact the linux group at linuxgroupat-picgsi.de. Please note that this should only be done in exceptional cases and that we do not provide any further support.

Furthermore, the linux group provides version control via Subversion, several Wikis and a message board with topics focusing on the experiments and departments.

Do you have any further questions regarding Linux support, please visit Linux help or contact linux-serviceat-picgsi.de
