GSI telephone prefix
The prefix for GSI is 71.
All extensions of GSI can be reached from the public phone net via the central phone number 71-0. The switchboard puts the calls through. With the number 71 plus the desired extension number the GSI phones can be reached via direct dialling.  

External calls, short-distance
Press 9 or "Amt" and dial the number you would like to call.

Business calls, long-distance
Dial "0" (for the switchboard) plus the desired number.

Private calls
Private calls have to be conducted via key "0". These calls are registered separately and the costs will be billed.  

Switchboard, directory assistance
External calls can be put through by the switchboard by dialling 0.

Payphones
In the new guesthouse there are card phones which can also be used for long-distance calls. A card phone is located in front of the entrance to the guest office in the foyer of the lecture hall ('Südbau'). Phone cards can be purchased in the canteen.

New guesthouse on the GSI premises
These extensions can be reached directly from outside. Furthermore, direct calls can be made within the Darmstadt area. External calls (long-distance) can only be made via the switchboard by dialling 0.

"Steinhaus"
Long-distance calls, worldwide 0 + phone number. These extensions can be reached directly from outside.
The GSI switchboard can be reached via the number "3-0". By dialling the number "3" plus the extension number, the GSI phones can be reached directly.

Old guesthouse ("Baracke")
External calls are not possible.
These extensions can be called directly from outside.
The GSI switchboard can be reached via the number "3-0". By dialling the number "3" and the extension number, the GSI phones can be reached directly.
