Employees and guests coming from a German company
If employees of German external companies or German guest scientists want to have access to the radiation protection areas, they are allowed to have access under the precondition that the external company (industry, university, and institute) has a special licence. This licence is the so called "§15 Genehmigung" (§15 licence of the German radiation protection ordinance law). In this ordinance you find all rules, limits concerning radiation protection in Germany. To be issued with such a licence the company must apply for this at the regional council (German: Regierungspräsidium). In the context of this licence the external company (firm, research facility, institute, and university) has
• to nominate a radiation protection officer (Strahlenschutzbeauftragter) • has to provide official dosimeters (e.g. film batch, TLD albedo dosimeter) to their employees • has to give radiation passports to their employees • has to care for regular medical examination on schedule (the medical examination must not be older than 12 months) • has to care for a radiation protection instruction on schedule (the last instruction must not be older than 12 months) • form "safety procedures at GSI" must be read and signed
The German external company leaves one copy of their §15 licence to the GSI. Furthermore there must be a demarcation contract between the GSI and the external company. A demarcation contract is a contract which rules the duties and the responsibilities of the radiation protection of the GSI and the external company, respectively. Additionally to the above mentioned premises there is the GSI rule that each person must do the GSI safety and radiation protection instructions.
