FOPI Detector
The FOPI detector has documented the investigation of the
collisions. As suggested by the name - FOPI stands for 4pi
a synonym for the entire solid angle-this detector detects, identifies,
and determines the momentum of all charged particles emitted in a
heavy-ion reaction.

KaoS Spectrometer
KaoS is concerned with the study of kaons anti-kaons in dense
nuclear matter. The American Physical Society has cited the Kaos
results to be among the ten "top physics stories" in particle, nuclear
and plasma physics in 1998.

HADES Detector
In order to investigate the phenomenon of the modification of
hadron properties in nuclear matter, the new electron-positron pair
spectrometer HADES is presently being set up at GSI by an
international collaboration of 19 institutions from 9 European
countries.

Na49 Detector
NA49 is a large acceptance magnetic and tracking spectrometer,
detecting about 70% of all created charged particles simultaneously
in each event. Up to about 1200 hadrons are recorded and identified
in Pb+Pb collisions.

CERES Detector
CERES is one of the second generation heavy ion experiments at
CERN SPS. It is dedicated to the study of e+e- pairs and hadrons in relativistic
nuclear collisions.

ALICE Detector
ALICE, A Large Ion Collider Experiment, aims to study the
physics of strongly interacting matter at extreme energy densities,
where the formation of a new phase of matter, the quark-gluon
plasma, is expected. The existence of such a phase and its
properties are a key issue in QCD for the understanding of
confinement and of chiral-symmetry restoration.
