"Hypernuclear Spectroscopy with Heavy Ion Beams"

Hypernuclear Physics Group at GSI

The group is funded from April 2006 by Helmholtz Association and GSI as Helmholtz-University Young Investigators Group for "Hypernuclear Spectroscopy with Heavy Ion Beams" with a cooperation of Mainz University. We belong to the GSI department, HAD II lead by Professor Dr. Frank Maas, since November 2007, and we are strongly supported by HAD II.

We are extensively working on the hypernuclear spectroscopy with heavy ion beams, the HypHI project at GSI in Germany and the STAR experiment at Brookhaven National Laboratory in USA. We are the leading group of the HypHI project, and we are now starting to play a role in the hypernuclear physics experiment with the STAR collaboration.

The first HypHI experiment, Phase 0, has been scheduled in August and October 2009, and we are preparing for the experiment. Documents related to the HypHI project can be downloaded with the following links.

In addition to the projects mentioned above, we are working on the hypernuclear projects at J-PARC, with PANDA at FAIR and with KaoS at MAMI C.
