SIS100/300 Kicker Magnet Systems

Draft of the new bipolar SIS100 extraction/emergency-Kicker Magnet. The supply voltage is about 70 kV. Currents of 6 kA will be reached and a magnetic deflecting field with approx. 100 mT in a time period of approximately 7 µs will divert the beam vertically.

Assembly of a pulse forming network (PFN) with 8 cells as a energy store to investigate the HV-characteristics of the future bipolar extraction/emergency–Kicker Magnet of SIS100. The impedance of the PFN will be about 5,7 Ω and is going to operate with 80 kV max.
